EL PASO, Texas – The Sun Bowl Association announced that the Arizona State Sun Devils will compete against the Duke Blue Devils in the 92nd Annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Dec. 31, 2025, at Sun Bowl Stadium at noon (MT) on CBS.
“In a rematch of the 2014 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, it is going to be a hot one with the Sun Devils from Arizona State battling the Blue Devils from Duke,” said Executive Director Bernie Olivas. “Both teams come to El Paso on fire, with Duke winning the ACC Championship and an 8-5 record, while Arizona State is coming in with eight wins against only four losses. Our city and the nation will be treated to a great offensive showdown. The Sun Bowl Association could not have asked for a better match-up.”
“We look forward to competing against the ACC Champions and trying to reach 20 wins over the past two seasons,” said Arizona State Head Coach Kenny Dillingham. “I coached in the 2014 Sun Bowl, and we understand the close ties and connections to Arizona State.”
The Arizona State Sun Devils are the 2024 Big 12 Champions and made an appearance in the 2024 College Football Playoff.
“To play an opponent like Arizona State, where Kenny (Dillingham) has done such a remarkable job, is great. They were in the playoffs a year ago,” said Duke Head Coach Manny Diaz. “This is what we want as a program. We want to be challenged.”
Duke has a record of 8-9 in bowl games, while Arizona State is 15-17-1. This will be a rematch of their Sun Bowl clash in 2014, where Arizona State defeated Duke 36-31. When they play against each other this New Year’s Eve, it will mark their second meeting all-time. The Blue Devils are the current ACC Champions, which marks the first time the Sun Bowl has hosted a conference champion.
