EL PASO, Texas – The Sun Bowl Association partnered with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation to celebrate and monetarily award teachers across various districts in the El Paso area on Extra Yard for Teachers Big Day on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.
“Teachers have one of the most underappreciated professions, and the College Football Playoff Foundation does a tremendous job of recognizing educators through Extra Yard for Teachers,” said Executive Director Bernie Olivas. “We are extremely honored to be a part of this initiative.”
Olivas and other Sun Bowl Association staff members visited several schools in Canutillo ISD, San Elizario ISD, Socorro ISD, Tornillo ISD, and others. Each teacher received a check for $500, an opportunity to participate in the Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade, and tickets to the 92nd Annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on New Year’s Eve, courtesy of Raiz Federal Credit Union, where they will be recognized on the field.
