EL PASO, Texas – The Sun Bowl Association, Goodwill Industries of El Paso and the Southwest Flag Football League awarded $12,000 in prize money to winners of the Fifth Annual Sun Bowl Adult Flag Football Tournament presented by Goodwill Industries of El Paso over the weekend of August 15-17 at the Westside Sports Complex in El Paso, Texas.
The tournament, which started with approximately 35 teams in its first year, has grown to 80 teams this year, competing in various divisions of play, including a coed division, women’s divisions, and five different men’s divisions. Teams and players from as far as San Antonio, Phoenix, and Seattle made the trek to El Paso to participate in this fun community event.
“It’s great that this event continues to grow year after year, and we really believe that it will continue to grow, especially with the sport making its Olympic debut in 2028,” said Sun Bowl Association Executive Director Bernie Olivas. “We continue to work hard to reach our next goal of bringing in more teams from out of town, which will have a positive impact on our city and economy.”
