CBS Sports lead analyst Gary Danielson is retiring after 36 years of broadcasting and has been named a 2025 Legend of the Sun Bowl. A former Purdue quarterback and 13-year NFL veteran, Danielson joined CBS Sports in 2006 as the lead analyst for the network’s college football coverage. Paired with Brad Nessler and Jenny Dell, he calls the BIG TEN on CBS. Danielson previously spent nine years as an analyst for ABC Sports (1997–2005), worked on college football broadcasts for ESPN beginning in 1990, and earlier provided analysis for the Detroit Lions for preseason games. With his induction, Danielson becomes the fourth broadcaster of the CBS family to become a Legend of the Sun Bowl. CBS producer Craig Silver and the network itself have also been inducted into this exclusive group.
The Sun Bowl Association thanks Gary Danielson for his work broadcasting 16 Sun Bowl games and wishes him a very happy retirement.
