Grecia Ortega, daughter of Abel and Leonie Ortega, is a Junior at The University of Texas at El Paso, majoring in Public Health with a minor in Nutritional Science. She graduated from Franklin High School, where she completed over 100 hours of volunteer work with the National Honor Society and Key Club.
At UTEP, Grecia has actively participated in the university’s Student Government Association, serving in several roles, including Senate Secretary, Senator-at-Large, and currently as the Health Sciences Collegiate Senator.
Through her involvement with UTEP SGA, Grecia joined and became Chapter Recruitment Officer of Texas Rising, a student organization focused on civic participation and voter advocacy. Her dedication to public service inspired her to intern with Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, where she interacted with constituents, addressed community issues, and observed the impact of federal policy on the needs of the border region.
Grecia joins the Sun Court, proud to embody the warmth, resilience, and pride that define El Paso and share the city’s story.
