Elvia Yepez, daughter of Juan and Elvia Yepez, is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, majoring in a B.S. in Human Biology with a minor in Forensic Science.. She graduated from Ysleta High School, where she served as the Senior Class Vice President and chaired the Pride & Patriotism committee for the Student Council. Additionally, she was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in both varsity cheerleading and softball. Dance has always been a major part of Elvia’s life, and she carried it on during her time in high school by being involved in the school’s Folklorico group.

At UT Austin, Elvia founded the Texas Folklorico Dance Company in 2023, where she serves as president and instructor. The group celebrates Mexican heritage through traditional dance. She is the Events Coordinator for Texas Lady Lifters, an organization that empowers women in the weight room. Additionally, she serves on the Bullpen Team for Texas Diamonds, a spirit group supporting Texas baseball.

Elvia has completed over 300 volunteer hours and patient care hours with Ascension Hospitals in Austin, as well as over 100 hours with RBI Austin, an organization that mentors underserved youth through baseball. Locally, she volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House and La Posada Home, supporting families in need in El Paso.

Dreaming to be a part of the Sun Court since she was a little girl, after attending the Thanksgiving Day parade. Now, Elvia gets to live out that dream by representing the city that raised her to share kindness and culture, shaping her into the woman she strives to be.
