Aracely Ramirez, daughter of Rocio Medina, is a Junior at The University of Texas at El Paso, majoring in Biomedical Sciences. She graduated from Fabens High School with an Associate of Science degree in Multidisciplinary Studies.
Aracely is actively engaged both on campus and in the community. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the American Medical Student Association. Additionally, she serves as the treasurer of Collegiate Double T Health Professionals, the largest pre-health organization in El Paso. This past June, she started research in Dr. Charles Spencer’s laboratory to investigate the immune system’s response to bacteria and inflammation.
In the last year, Aracely has volunteered at El Paso Children’s Hospital, Rotacare Clinic, Psychiatric Clinic, Medventure for Your Future at Texas Tech, and at La Clinica.
Serving on this year’s Sun Court is viewed by Aracley as an opportunity to serve and represent what it’s like to be an El Pasoan. Although she was born in Iowa and raised in Juarez until the age of seven, she embodies the qualities of a civic leader and a devoted volunteer for our wonderful city.
