Alex Gonzalez, the daughter of Jose Angel and Ericka Gonzalez-Garcia, is a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin. She is majoring in Government and Spanish and is also pursuing a Minor in Ethics & Leadership in Law, as well as Politics & Government. Alex graduated from Franklin High School, where she served on Student Council, participated in Key Club and National Honor Society, and competed in Mock Trial. By her high school graduation, she had accumulated over 1,300 community service hours.
Alex has completed internships with Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and Representative Vincent Perez at the Capitol, and she is currently interning with the El Paso County District Attorney’s Office. At UT Austin, she is a student assistant for the Student Governance Office and a student ambassador for the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
As Sun Princess, Alex has a mission to serve as an ambassador for what she feels is a “hidden gem” of a city in El Paso. She looks forward to representing the city that has given her so much and has caused a “boomerang effect” that pulls her back to the city she loves.
