The Sun Bowl Association has announced that the 2015 Hyundai Sun Bowl game will be played Saturday, Dec. 26, at 12 p.m. MT (2 p.m. ET) at Sun Bowl Stadium.
The 2015 game will mark the 82nd edition of the Sun Bowl game and the 48th consecutive broadcast on CBS. The game features selections from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Pac-12 conferences.
“We are looking forward to a memorable game between teams from the Pac-12 Conference and the ACC,” said Bernie Olivas, Sun Bowl Association Executive Director. “The Hyundai Sun Bowl is the only bowl that matches these two conferences and over the last five years, they have provided us with some quality teams and thrilling games.”
This year’s game will mark the fourth time the game is played on December 26. The last time the game was played on that date was 1981, prior games included the 1975 and 1964 matchups. The 1975 game provided the bowl game’s first ever sellout and a first in NCAA history as three players rushed for over 100 yards each in the same game. Another historic record happened in 1964 as it was the first time the Sun Bowl game was televised nationally. NBC showcased Georgia’s (SEC) 7-0 win over Texas Tech (Southwest Conference.)
“Having a Saturday game will also be a fantastic way to finish the Christmas weekend, and will give our national CBS audience a great time slot to view our game and El Paso,” Olivas added. “Duke and Arizona State combined for 792 yards of offense during the 2014 game providing an entertaining matchup for football fans across the nation. That’s the kind of exciting football we are looking forward to this year.”
Tickets for the 2015 Hyundai Sun Bowl are $22, $32, $47, $57 and $62 and will go on sale at a later date.
